Episode 11: Faith Manages

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

Faith Manages: FAITH takes on many forms and inspires so many people in so many different ways, even across the millennia. How one MANAGES their faith is what is at stake in the Season finale of The Orville: MAD IDOLATRY. We are also celebrating several "FIRSTS" of sorts. This will be our FIRST show exclusively covering The ORVILLE because this is The Orville's FIRST SEASON FINALE, as it is our FIRST DiscoVille Podcast Finale for this year!

Sitting in with us in the Tactical Chair for this episode is our very special guest from Trek. Fm - Miss Amy Nelson and recently promoted to Chief Engineer, we also have co-founder of the Fandom Podcast Network - Mr. Kyle Wagner.

On behalf of my fellow shuttle-podcasters Kevin and Kyle, and our special guest Amy Nelson, thanks to everyone out there for tuning in and supporting our show and for making this podcast so incredibly fun to do for all or you. We will return back to our regularly schedule programming in January 2018. Until then, HAPPY HOLIDAYS from all of us at The Fandom Podcast Network.

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast Episode 10: First Officer, Second Guesser?

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast
Episode 10: First Officer, Second Guesser?

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

For this episode it is all about being NUMBER ONE! The FIRST OFFICER is the second most important role on a starship, next to the Captain...but in many ways, the MOST important role because of the pressure they can take OFF the Captain. At least that is what we are meant to believe. A SECOND-GUESSER is someone who attempts to anticipate or predict and in many ways, this is what a First Officer does to inform their Captain of every possible decision making angle. However, in both Star Trek DISCOVERY and The Orville, First Officers Michael Burnham and Kelley Grayson each have "second guessed" their respective captains and, especially in the case of Burnham, caused more harm than the intended good.

Sitting in with us in the Tactical Chair for this episode is our very special guest and co-founder of the Fandom Podcast Network - Kyle Wagner. And we have another fantastic round with The Omega 13 device and take a look at a very interesting topic for Subspace Signals about an ever escalating budget that may affect Star Trek Discovery moving forward.

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast Episode 9: Designs of Future Past

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast
Episode 9: Designs of Future Past

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

At times on DiscoVille, we will be on hiatus from actual real time broadcast releases. Not to worry - because aside from discussing the episodes, there are SO MANY aspects to these shows that we also want to discuss with you and for this episode, we wanted to talk about the visual stylization of both Star Trek Discovery and The Orville and how the costuming and prop teams for both series leaned fairly heavily on the Designs from their future's past...in this case The Original Series and ENTERPRISE for Discovery and The Next Generation era of 90's Trek for The Orville respectively.

Sitting in with us in the Tactical Chair for this episode is our very special guest and co-founder of the Fandom Podcast Network - Kyle Wagner. And we have a very interesting topic for Subspace Signals about a certain photo that was released on Twitter with a certain executive producer of The Orville with a certain former Betazoid Counselor from The Next Generation. Please…speculate amongst yourselves!

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast Episode 8: Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firestorm

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast
Episode 8: Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firestorm

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Firestorm is a play on the old “proverb” as we discuss the events which have led us - the fans and audience of Star Trek AND Discovery - from the 12 year "Dead Sea" of Star Trek on TV - to the premiere of DISCO on September 24th, through to the cliffhanger midseason finale as the DISCOVERY SPORE JUMPED "Out of the Frying Pan" of the Klingon War. Meanwhile on The Orville...Security Chief Lt. Alara Kitan literally ran "Into the Firestorm" of her own worst nightmares. Or were they?

Sitting in with us in the Tactical Chair for this episode is our very special guest - Hayley Stoddart - who you have heard on several special episodes of CULTURE CLASH discussing Orphan Black. Also on DiscoVille, we have some great selections yet again for the Omega 13 device and Kevin brings us some fantastic news about an OFFICIAL The Orville Sourcebook on Subspace Signals.

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast Episode 7: There’s No Such Thing As Closure.

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast
Episode 7: There's No Such Thing As Closure.

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

We had an AMAZING time recording this show...lots of fun, LOTS of puns, still waiting for BORTAS to drop the hammer on the Karaoke mike...and we LOVED having back on the show with us...Miss Amy Nelson from Trek.fm's Postcards from the Edge and Earl Grey podcasts.

The Title for this episode of DiscoVille is: There's No Such Thing As Closure. Cosmic threads still seem to tie these two shows together as The Discovery's crew needs closure post the Pahvan conflict...and on The Orville, Old Wounds open up once again between Ed and Kelly as they can't seem to get closure on from alien who originally drove them apart.

Also on DiscoVille, we have some great selections yet again for the Omega 13 device and our Subspace Signals focus on a great piece of news regarding The Orville's renewal and a wonderful e-mail from a loyal listener.

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast Episode 6: The Six Degrees of Spockaration

DiscoVille: A Star Trek DISCOVERY and THE ORVILLE Podcast
Episode 6: The Six Degrees of Spockaration

Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom.

This episode of DiscoVille is titled "The Six Degrees of Spockaration" because in BOTH episodes, the main characters of SARU and ISSAC respectively, and their storylines, are heavily influenced by and channel several of Spock's most significant moments of character growth as seen on Star Trek The Original Series. On Star Trek Discovery, SARU's plight draws heavily from This Side of Paradise, where "spores" (as represented by the Pahvan, artificially implant a certain serenity and happiness in him, that he feels is worth sacrificing the mission to protect. In The Orville, this episode draws heavily from The Galileo Seven (amongst other shuttle missions gone awry) as ISSAC learns that logic and detachment is not the only way to survive a dire situation.

Also on DiscoVille, we have some great selections for the Omega 13 device AND our Subspace Signals focus on why fandom today is so contentious to the point where there can be ONLY one or the other...only Discovery OR The Orville. WHY CAN'T THERE BE ROOM FOR BOTH???

Star Trek Discovery Episode 6: MAGIC TO MAKE THE SANEST MAN GO MAD
Enter HARRY MUDD, who has discovered a devious temporal strategy that can exploit the USS Discovery and her crew - which would allow the Klingons to turn the tide against The Federation. What MUDD didn't count on was Burnham's and Tyler's burgeoning romance that became the wild card factor which a con man never sees coming. Time in fact does not heal all wounds...and, may even open a few new ones.

The Orville Episode 7: MAJORITY RULE
Captain Ed Mercer and the landing team discover that all of the inhabitants of Sargas Four wear a SPECIAL BADGE which is the basis of one’s SOCIAL and LEGAL standing in the eyes of the MAJORITY. Their mission goes sideways when Lt. Lamarr is caught disrespecting the statue of a beloved public figure. Their only hope...a café barista who accidentally discovers that the Landing Party is not who they appear to be.

Also on DiscoVille, we have some great selections for the Omega 13 device AND our Subspace Signals focus on a major concern regarding the current status of The Orville’s renewal projections for a second season.

October 18, 2017
00:0000:00
Welcome to DiscoVille where we discuss both Star Trek Discovery AND The Orville here on the Fandom Podcast Network. On this show we take an in-depth look at each of these shows and discover that both of them can co-exist in today's fandom...as they introduce us to fresh, new and exciting stories, characters, galactic destinations and so much more! On this episode of DiscoVille, we discuss:

The Orville Episode 6
Krill: After defeating a Krill warship attacking a nearby colony, which left a fully functioning Krill shuttlecraft adrift in the debris, Captain Ed Mercer and Lt. Gordon Malloy are given a mission that is vital to culturally understanding the enemy. But what they discover on board a Krill Warship, tests both of their mettle as they have to choose between the lesser of two evils...or even possibly three.

Star Trek Discovery Episode 5
Choose Your Pain: En route back to the Discovery from a Starfleet debriefing, Captain Lorca is abducted by a Klingon D-7 and thrown into a prison cell with Harcourt Fenton "Harry" Mudd (played brilliantly by Rainn Wilson). Mudd reminds Lorca that the "little" people are tired of being caught in Starfleet's crossfire and maybe it was Starfleet’s ARROGANCE to "boldly go" that may have forced the Klingons to push back in the first place.

Also on DiscoVille, we have some great selections for the Omega 13 device AND our Subspace Signals intercept a transmission from Social Media that is creating a disturbance amidst the fan communities, and has been for quite some time.
