About Adrian Paul: Adrian Paul is an actor renowned for his lead role, as Duncan MacLeod, in the action series Highlander. The show spanned 6 seasons, 117 episodes and ran in over 90 countries world wide. As well as starring in numerous action films, including two Highlander Films, he has also choreographed numerous sword fights and action sequences for both television and film during his 30 year entertainment career. During that time he also directed and produced TV and Film along with founding his own charity The PEACE Fund. (Protect, Educate, Aid Children Everywhere). The PEACE Fund has been in existence since 1997, helping improve the lives of children, in the US, Haiti, Thailand, Cambodia, Pakistan, Hungary and Romania. In June 2015, Adrian ran a Sword Experience workshop, to raise money for one of the children the PEACE Fund supported. The event went so well that Adrian decided to hold other similar events at venues across the US. At this once in a lifetime experience, Adrian will be hands on to pass on some of the knowledge he learned whilst working with world renowned action stars, stunt choreographers, and sword masters.

Anthony and Mary DeLongis’ Rancho Indalo IS a FULL ON training facility, set in Canyon Country right outside of Santa Clarita, CA (north of Los Angeles). They have 4 gorgeous horses at the ranch, for various riding programs and excursions. Anthony is fully equipped to train and teach all styles of martial arts with a variety of weaponry at his disposal. He is an extraordinary teacher and was able to communicate very quickly and efficiently with me, so that we could maximize the most out of our training sessions. Also...Mary DeLongis is the most AMAZING CHEF and her cooking is worth a trip to the ranch! Lastly, being able to meet Forged In Fire's DAVE BAKER who lives nearby was just the icing on the cake!
After listening to this show, I hope that I have inspired many of you to visit Rancho Indalo. It has made such a profound impact on me, not just because I am a fan of Anthony's work, but because it is such a lovely place to visit, run by two amazing people who have an incredibly deep and infectious passion for what they do. If you have the means and the desire and a WILLINGNESS TO LEARN (very important), seriously consider visiting Rancho Indalo to train and spend time with these two fabulous people. I truly look forward to visiting again.

The last time we discussed the Collectible Card Game was FIRST on Part Four of the Highlander Fandom Flashback, and THEN on the TWO PART Episode on Blood of Kings called "It's All in the Cards" - Blood of Kings Episode 5 and 6. From it’s very humble cult beginnings in 1986 with the signature Christopher Lambert film, to celebrating Highlander’s 31st birthday this past March 7th - and now looking forward towards celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 25th anniversary of Highlander: The Television Series in October in Los Angeles…HIGHLANDER is still going strong and there is an amazing resurgence in the fandom. BUT, there is a lot of LORE that has been developed for this franchise these past 30 years. How does one keep track of it all? Well...let's start with the basics or "HIGHLANDER 101."
As Blood of Kings continues to grow in fans and followers, Kevin and I felt it was a good idea to refresh all of our listeners, especially those NEW to the Highlander franchise - to the basic framework and architecture. One of the things that Kevin and Norm love most about having created the Blood of Kings Podcast, is the growth of the amazing HIGHLANDER Fan Community on Facebook and Social Media. Fan interaction is incredibly important to promoting new discussions in all aspects of the Highlander universe. One fan in particular, Vince Stefanelli, inspired Kevin and Norm to take a deeper look into one off Vincent’s favorite episodes: Season 3’s Mortal Sins.
This episode of Blood of Kings continues Kevin and Norm's deep dive study on Mortal Sins with an in-depth commentary and insight in real-time as the episode unfolds. Throughout the commentary of this episode, Kevin and Norm can easily see why Vince Stefanelli chose this as one of his favorites.
This episode combines a great many aspects of what makes for a quality Highlander episode; especially the MORAL question and dilemma plaguing and haunting Father Bernard.

In early December 2016, a very powerful teaser image was released to the Highlander fan public on Facebook; multiple copies of the word “Gather” in a circular “ring”. Needless to say, the Highlander community’s interest was instantly piqued! Shortly after…the HLWW or Highlander WorldWide logo appeared in the center of that “ring” of “Gather” - or GATHERING - and accompanied by the phrase “Twenty-Five Years Can Seem Like A Lifetime” - the teaser began to make sense.
Finally, the plans of the 25th Anniversary Highlander Convention were announced and a surge of Quickening level energy cascaded throughout the fanbase and across all of social media. Details were somewhat limited due to all of the hard work that was being invested behind the scenes.
On this very special episode of KINGMAKERS on Blood of Kings, we are so incredibly honored and privileged to have on both John Mosby, author of FEARFUL SYMMETRY: The Essential Guide to All Things Highlander and Carmel Macpherson, PRESIDENT of Highlander Worldwide to discuss the most current developments for the Highlander 25th Anniversary Convention! Joined by your FPN co-hosts, Kevin, Kyle and Norm, John and Carmel discuss how this convention started to take shape, what has been set in the planning stages, many of the “hopes” for the convention and discuss the “WHY NOW?” about producing this con on the 25th anniversary of the television series.

Highlander…the cult classic fantasy film from 1986 returns to the pop culture spotlight in a new comic book series from IDW Publishing. Highlander: The American Dream was first teased to the world of fandom in November of 2016 that sent "quickening level" shockwaves through the Highlander fan community as we were presented with the possibility of an actual PREQUEL to the events that led up to The Gathering in 1985.
Released on February 22nd, 2017...Highlander: The American Dream #1 reunites us with many familiar characters from the original 1986 feature film; including most importantly both Connor MacLeod and Rachel Ellenstein. However, this time we are re-introduced to a character who in the 1986 movie was only featured by way of mugshot and a police report. Osta Vaslek was one of the final six and a character, who until now, was shrouded in mystery.
Please join Kevin, Norm and our resident comic book aficionado and Blood of Kings editor Mike Sellers as they delve deeply into a SPOILER HEAVY review of this comic book; the first in a series of stories set in Connor’s recent past. As with all extensions of the Highlander lore - your Blood of Kings team did their homework, discovered many interesting aspects of the story and stumbled upon a few narrative choices that still make Norm go “Hmmmm…” Enjoy!

One of the most important (yet inconsistent) elements in the history of the Highlander franchise is understanding the RULES of the Immortal Game. Why can there be only ONE? What if the last two who remain no longer want the ultimate prize? Why can some Immortals like Kane choose to ignore the “tradition” of Holy Ground, when even the most ruthless of Immortals like the Kurgan do not? When did challenge by way of single combat become an established rule of The Game? Who enforces these rules and what are the penalties of ignoring them - especially Holy Ground?

Highlander 3: The Final Dimension was a very valiant theatrical effort. It tried very hard to re-capture many of the touchstones that made the first movie the cult phenomenon that it remains to this day. It even succeeded in creating some interesting extensions to the established canon.
It does have some very strong and signature HIGHLANDER moments, but in our opinion, it’s the overall connective tissue that really strains the Highlander audience’s ability to reconcile this as nothing more than trying TOO HARD to redirect the franchise from what was the de-railing years before in Highlander 2 - the theatrical edition.
Join Kevin and Norm as they rediscover Highlander 3: The Final Dimension and delve deeply into the subject matter of the film. From the perspective of a fresh re-watch, Kevin and Norm discover how certain parts of the film really work and propel the lore forward, moments of the film that were deliberately created to disavow Highlander 2: The Quickening, how certain signature moments were truly a blatant rip-off of 1986 and even raise a few very important canonical issues that challenge the overall canon of Highlander - specifically the rule of Holy Ground.
Oh and yes...if there is one thing that is consistent about Highlander 1 through 3...it's that iron pipes make all the difference in surviving the game!

Happy New Year Blood of Kings fans!!! On our first episode for 2017, your co-hosts Kevin and Norm delve deeply into the SIXTH and FINAL season of Highlander: The Series. Due to many extreme circumstances, especially the limitations of Adrian Paul’s availability, Season Six became the “soft auditions” for the eventual spin-off series Highlander: The Raven.
Season Six began production in Paris in the summer of 1997 and Panzer-Davis Productions had been approached by partners and foreign investors about doing a possible spin-off series - which would center on a FEMALE immortal. Several "spec" scripts for the new series were filmed as episodes to fill out the season. Funding was cut and only thirteen episodes were filmed, of which TWO did not feature Adrian at all. The writing was on the wall for Highlander: The Series and a choice had to be made.
Join us as we take a look at the FIVE episodes and the WOMEN who helped shape the destiny of the spinoff series as we begin PART ONE of our journey in the Search for the Raven…

Highlander 2: The Quickening is hailed by many-and especially in the Highlander Fan Community - as being the WORST sequal (and possibly one of the worst movies) OF ALL TIME!!!! With three simple words = "The Planet Zeist" - Highlander 2 instantly alienated (no pun intended) an entire fan base and created one of the most profound schisms in the Highlander Fan community not seen before or since.
When Kevin and Norm first created Blood of Kings, one of their very first ideas was to present a POSITIVE case FOR Highlander 2 and to challenge Highlander Fans to look at H2 in a different light, and enjoy it from a different perspective; hopin that the distance and separation of time has eased much of the vitriol that has been levied at Hilander 2 since 1991.
To be fair and specific, in THIS episode of BoK, Kevin and Norm are citing the Special Edition as the ULTIMATE CUT of Highlander 2 and the version that is worth of summary judgement by the fan community.

This week on Blood of Kings, Kevin "The RaiderNerd" Reitzel "interviewed" Norman "Centauri" Lao at length about Norm's first ever SWORD EXPERIENCE with Adrian Paul at Stan Lee's Los Angeles Comic Convention on Saturday October 29th. Norm goes into very deep-cut and emotional detail about how he first learned about the Sword Experience, what he did to prepare, and how HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) prepared him for the rigorous (nearly) 4 hour session of sword fighting and choreography and how this was a MUST-DO and BUCKET LIST item for him; encouraging all Highlander Fans to do this if possible. Norm even had a chance to meet and hang out with several Blood of Kings fans, gained a few new listeners and at the end of the day - gave Adrian a Blood of Kings T-Shirt which he WORE in a future video tweet for the wrap-up of the Los Angeles Experience!!!
