Couch Potato Theater: GALAXY QUEST! 20 Years Later Retrospective!
Since its theatrical debut in 1999, Galaxy Quest remains one of the Greatest Sci-Fi Comedies of all time. It is often hailed by Star Trek fans as one of the best Star Trek films! 20 years later, the film absolutely holds up as one of the best sci-fi satires ever made—one that challenges our obsession with massive Hollywood franchises, the nature of fandom, and some of the more problematic clichés of the genre. But it does so with a self-aware empathy that makes it an enduring and lasting entry in not only science-fiction, but American film as a whole.
Join your Couch Potato hosts Kevin, Kyle, Haylee and Amy as they take a look back at this perfect film and see how it has remained a true classic to this day and a film that represents everything that Couch Potato Theater is about.

And THAT my friends is the DEFINITION of what our Show is all about.
Join us for this very special edition of Couch Potato Theater as we look back on the 1981 classic Heavy Metal.
Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian adult animated sci-fi-fantasy film directed by Gerald Potterton, produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel, who also was the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, which was the basis for the film, and starring the voices of John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Harold Ramis, and many more. The screenplay was written by Daniel Goldberg and Len Blum. The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of adult content. Its production was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments.
Join Kevin & Kyle as they take a look back at this classic film and see how it has remained a true classic to this day, and a film that represents everything that Couch Potato Theater is about.

Couch Potato Theater: The Spicing Guild: Dune Retrospective Part One
Tuesday Nov 06, 2018
Tuesday Nov 06, 2018
Welcome to the latest edition of Couch Potato Theater, a celebration of Frank Herbert's amazing Dune universe. Adam O' Brien and Kyle Wagner begin their journey through the universe of Dune starting with David Lynch's 1984 movie adaptation. In this look back we will see what went right and what went wrong with this film and where it falls in the history of this franchise and even with the new version being worked on now is it possible to do a quality movie translation of Dune.
We will be looking primarily with the adaptations of Frank's work. We are interested in why these have never been truly successful films, but have become cult films by themselves. We will be covering the cast, directors, the people behind the scenes, and what led up to the film's and miniseries. We will look at why Dune works better as a book than a film, with its plots within plots. It's not a linear tale, like films portray.
Also joining Adam at the end of the episode is Din from F-105 and an engaging conversation about the original source material of Dune

Maximum Couch Potato Theater: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) Retrospective
The Fandom Podcast Network’s Couch Potato Theater Proudly Presents:
Maximum Couch Potato Theater: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome Retrospective.
Part Three: Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) Retrospective
The Fandom Podcast Network presents, an all new 4 part series, of Couch Potato Theatre specials, looking at the amazing, George Miller series of films: MAD MAX. We’ll be looking at all four films, one by one, in four separate specials.
Your host: Adam O’Brien; Australian Correspondent of Fantha Tracks is joined by cofounding members of the Fandom Podcast Network: Kevin M. Reitzel and Kyle Wagner.
On tonight’s special we’re taking you back to when Max Rockatansky voyaged out of the Wasteland to battle Aunt Entity in Bartertown.
Bartertown is a city on the edge of a desert that has managed to retain some technology if no civilization. Max has his supplies stolen and must seek shelter there in a post apocalyptic world where all machines have begun to break down and barbarians hold what is left. He becomes involved in a power struggle in this third Mad Max film where he must first survive the town, survive the desert and then rescue the innocent children he has discovered.
Released in 1985 to the international market, this was the family friendly epic which made Mad Max a household name. Not bloody thirsty and adult like the previous ones, this took Max in a search for his humanity and purpose in life.
Join us, and enjoy... Part Three: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome retrospective!
